A return to play keenly anticipated by Ardmore Marist Head Coach, Doug Sanft

Head coach Doug Sanft is eager to put rubber on the road and get the 2020 season back on track

With a bye in the first round and COVID-19 lock down being introduced before game two, Head Coach Doug Sanft says his men are eager to return to the field and he is looking forward to laying rubber on the road.

"Our players were in great shape before lock down and our Premiers were disappointed not to put their preparation into practise before the season was postponed in March" he said.

"Our Prem 2 team looked good in the first round against Weymouth and our coaching team were happy with progress through preseason." Sanft added.

COVID-19 restrictions since March 2020 have meant that there was a halt to all community sport in New Zealand and New Zealand Rugby have yet to sanction a return to group training for community rugby.

"Our men and women have been training individually or in their bubbles over the last couple of months and appear to be fit, but the focus for the coaches and medical team now will be on ensuring a safe return to contact training and getting the players mindset right" Sanft explained.

Head Physiotherapist Sarah Fanuatanu has run virtual Prehab sessions on Instagram and Facebook during lock down.  The videos focus on conditioning and increasing flexibility of specific areas of  the body to prevent injury during exercise.
